Methodology seminars series: Evolutionary Economic Geography

The course will offer an introduction to evolutionary economic geography. It will cover four topics:

(1) introduction to Evolutionary Economic Geography;

(2) Spatial evolution of industries;

(3) Spatial evolution of networks;

(4) Regional development and regional diversification.

Ron Boschma is Full Professor in Regional Economics at the Faculty of Geosciences, University of Utrecht. He is also Full Professor in Innovation Studies at the Centre for Innovation, Research and Competence in the Learning Economy (CIRCLE) at Lund University.

Boschma is heading a research group at Utrecht University that has laid the foundations of a new influential stream in Economic Geography, that is, Evolutionary
Economic Geography. Boschma has published in international journals on Evolutionary Economic Geography, the spatial evolution of industries, geography of innovation, the structure and evolution of spatial networks, agglomeration externalities and regional growth, and regional diversification.

Lectures all days 10-12 am and individual meetings all days 2-4pm
