CYGNUS is a newly formed international collaboration, aimed at developing a global network of recoil sensitive gaseous TPCs based on negative ion drift for directional Dark Matter search. CYGNUS goal is to eventually establish a Galactic Directional Recoil Observatory of Dark Matter and neutrinos with a total mass at the ton-scale. As a directional DM experiment, in fact, it can leap beyond the Neutrino Bound in the DM search and, at the same time, effectively be also a Neutrino Observatory, opening the study of neutrinos from the Sun, Supernovae and the atmosphere through the coherent scattering mechanism. The CYGNUS collaboration (about 50 members from Italy, USA, UK, Japan, Australia, France and China institutions) will be meeting at GSSI from 14th to 16th July 2018 to discuss the latest CYGNUS R&D and simulation works currently undergoing towards the final detector design optimisation and the preparation of a Whitepaper.
